 Mental Health Counseling
If you are experiencing stressors in your life that are causing you to feel overwhelmed, anxious, and uneasy, or if you are experiencing changes in mood that are keeping you from feeling like yourself, or living the way you desire, you may be experiencing anxiety or depression, or a combination of both.  With mental health counseling Heidi can help you  process the issues you are experiencing and teach you  tools  and techniques you can begin using immediately to help feel better.   Sometimes you just need a safe space to talk through the issues you're feelings and going through. Heidi provides a safe, professional space to share and discuss the challenges you are facing.

Heidi also works with teens and adults who experience intense, high levels of emotions.  If you find that people often tell you that you are "too sensitive", or if you or others feel as though you "feel too much",  you may experience higher levels of emotions. This doesn't mean that you are too sensitive, or that  you feel too much, but that  you may just need the right skills and techniques to manage the intensity of the emotions.  When the emotions become too big or overwhelming to handle, learning tools and techniques of emotional regulation can help you manage your emotions and feel more in control and healthier overall.

Heidi also works individually and in small groups with teens who perform Non-Suicidal Self Injury (NSSI), such as "cutting" or "burning". For these individuals NSSI is means of coping with either intense emotions by allowing a sense of relief or release,  or the feeling of a loss or lack of emotion allowing the person to "feel".  Usually, those who use NSSI do not have suicidal intent, although  suicidal intentions may escalate if this maladaptive coping skill is not replace with healthier coping skills. Heidi utilizes a combination of evidenced based practices, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, to teach the skills and tools necessary to manage these feelings appropriately.
